What is Fahrenheit Scale

Fahrenheit was a German engineer, physicist and glass blower who devised a temperature scale and invented the mercury thermometer.
Fahrenheit is a temperature scale where the freezing point of water is 32 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) and the boiling point 212°F (at standard atmospheric pressure). This puts the boiling and freezing points of water exactly 180 degrees apart. The following formulas can be used to convert a temperature from Fahrenheit (°F) value to other temperature scales:

Fahrenheit to Celsius[°C] = ([°F] − 32) × 5⁄9
Fahrenheit to Delisle[°De] = (212 − [°F]) × 5⁄6
Fahrenheit to Kelvin[K] = ([°F] + 459.67) × 5⁄9
Fahrenheit to Newton[°N] = ([°F] − 32) × 11⁄60
Fahrenheit to Rankine[°R] = [°F] + 459.67
Fahrenheit to Reaumur[°Ré] = ([°F] − 32) × 4⁄9
Fahrenheit to Romer[°Ro] = ([°F] − 32) × 7⁄24 + 7.5

What is Delisle Scale

The Delisle scale (modified by Weitbrecht in 1738) sets the water freezing point at 150 °D, and the boiling point of water at 0 °D. Therefore at higher Delisle numbers correspond lower temperatures. It was invented by Joseph-Nicolas Delisle, a French astronomer. One degree DeLisle is equivalent to -2/3K. It remained popular in Russia for a century or so.

The following formulas can be used to convert a temperature from Delisle (°De) value to other temperature scales:

Delisle to Celsius[°C] = 100 − [°De] × 2⁄3
Delisle to Fahrenheit[°F] = 212 − [°De] × 6⁄5
Delisle to Kelvin[K] = 373.15 − [°De] × 2⁄3
Delisle to Newton[°N] = 33 − [°De] × 11⁄50
Delisle to Rankine[°R] = 671.67 − [°De] × 6⁄5
Delisle to Reaumur[°Ré] = 80 − [°De] × 8⁄15
Delisle to Romer[°Ro] = 60 − [°De] × 7⁄20
