Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert MPG to miles per litre?

Divide your MPG (UK) by 4.54609. Example: 40 MPG (UK) ÷ 4.54609 = 8.80 miles per litre.

Why is MPL useful?

UK petrol pumps dispense in litres, so MPL tells you directly how far you go per litre purchased. If fuel costs 150p/litre and you get 10 MPL, you pay 15p per mile.

What is a good MPL?

Above 12 MPL is excellent (55+ MPG UK, hybrids). 9–12 is good. 7–9 is average. Below 7 is high consumption.
